On June 15th, Noemi presented on her capstone project along with a guest speaker, Mary Kidney, who is the Accessibility manager for all NM. The rehabilitation department and stakeholders were invited to be the audience of this in-service.

Mary’s presentation focused on healthcare and people with disabilities, laws and regulations for accessible medical care, and documentation of disability status and accommodation needs. She also shared on current research pilots happening at NM focused on development of a NM data architecture build, tool development for patients to self-report disability and accommodations, and practice development supports and implementation guides with healthcare system leaders.

Noemi then presented on her capstone learning objectives, need assessment results, and education on disability, ableism, effective communication, accommodations available at NM, and next steps. Below are the presentation slides.
